SAS 2018 was held at the Kauai Marriott Resort in Hawaii (July 30th to August 2nd, 2018), and our department had a lot of participants and research presentations. Kauai is geologically the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands, and beautiful place. The island of Kauai has been featured in more than seventy Hollywood movies and television shows. During congress period, weather was not so good, but starry sky was excellent.
SASはSpine Across the Seaの略であり、会員数がおよそ8000名のNASSと3600名のJSSRのcombined meetingである。多くの脊椎分野からの発表があり、今年は70演題という多数の演題が討論されていました。当講座からは松山幸弘教授がSymposium: Help the Professor! Case presentationsの座長、戸川先生がAbstract Session: Adult Spinal Deformityの座長を務められ、大和先生がシンポジウムにてUnderstanding Radiographic Parameters and Alignment Objectives in ASD に関する講演を行いました。今回の採択率は19%と低率であったにもかかわらず、浜松医科大学脊椎班から合計10演題の発表を行いました（写真添付）。
学会初日（7/30）の夜はOpening receptionが開催されました（写真添付）。場所はBeach side in the Kauai Marriott Resortであり、開放的な環境は著名な先生方とも話が弾みました。
SAS congressは3年に1度行われており、次回は2021年にMaui, Hawaii, USAにて開催されます。次回のSAS 2021にも当講座から多数の演題を発信したいと思います。
